This 10-piece stainless steel palette knife set brings assorted blade shapes to oil, acrylic, gouache and mixed-media painting. The red-burgundy handles are plastic. Each order contains ten knives; paint, palettes and canvases in the pictures are not included.

Choose a blade for the mark

Use broader blades to spread paint across an area and narrower tips for smaller marks. Mix colors on a palette before applying them to a canvas or other suitable painting surface. Test the stroke and amount of paint on a practice area first.

Build texture or mix colors

Change the blade angle and pressure to vary the paint mark. These tools can also gather wet paint on a palette. They are art tools, not food utensils or cutting knives. Select the blade by the shape of the mark you want rather than treating every blade as interchangeable.

Clean after painting
